THE STORYING PROCESS
Echo had adapted storying (short for Chronological Bible Storying) from a missionary context, infusing learning-centered methods to better connect every type of learner. Storying strives to create an imaginative environment to help participants join in the biblical narrative and find meaning for today.
REPLAY: what stories have we told so far?
A fast-paced, fun review of the stories covered so far.
IMAGINE: what if you were there–in the story?
The leader sets a reflective tone, encouraging imaginative listening. Then, a Bible story is narrated.
CREATE: what stood out to you from the story?
Offer options for expressing observations, such as: creative writing, journaling, sketching, reading, reenacting, listening, art, etc. Have a different voice provide a second reading of the story during this time.
CONNECT: where do you see yourself in the story?
Guide the group to dialogue about their observations, wonderings and insights from the story.

"The stories came alive to our students—the more they talked about them, the more they saw different ways they connected to their lives. They were learning for themselves—and this learning sticks! I was right there with the students...the stories came alive for me, too!"
- RACHEL, VOLUNTEER
"Our lives must find their place in a greater story... or they will find their place in a lesser story."
